Hitmen Fall to Wheat Kings 4-2

Calgary, AB- The Calgary Hitmen closed off a string of four straight games on home ice tonight when they welcomed the Brandon Wheat Kings to Scotiabank Saddledome. Calgary fell to the visitors 4-2.

It was a scoreless first period to start the contest. The scoreboard finally saw some action in the second period with Brandon finding the net twice with goals from Luke Shipley and Calder Anderson. With the majority of the period spent on the kill, Calgary was kept off the board heading into the third period. Calgary began to climb back at 4:53 when London Hoilett put one past Brandon netminder Carson Bjarnason to cut the lead it half. Hoilett would score again to tie the game at two but a late goal from Quinn Mantei and an empty net from Nolan Flamand secured the win for Brandon.

With his two-goal effort London Hoilett earned first star of the game. Brayden Peters made 31 saves in tonight's contest.

Calgary are currently sixth in Eastern Conference with a record of 22-15-3-1. The team sits four points back of the Lethbridge Hurricanes who hold fifth place.

Calgary is on the road tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 21 to visit the Medicine Hat Tigers before returning to the Saddledome to host Red Deer on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 4:00 p.m. for another Sunday Funday, presented by Brookfield Residential.
