
Hitmen Fall to Rebels in Overtime

Red Deer, AB - The Calgary Hitmen picked up a point in Red Deer tonight at the Peavey Mart Centrium in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Rebels.
Chase Valliant opened up the game scoring off a rebound from Carson Wetsch on a delayed penalty call just two minutes into the first. Red Deer tied the game at 9:50 with a power play marker from Mats Lindgren. With under two minutes left in play, Keets Fawcett was able to give Calgary back the lead, putting one past Red Deer netminder Rhett Stroesser. Fawcett now has goals in the last three games.
The second period saw a lot of special teams with both teams trading power play opportunities, but no team was able to capitalize leaving the period scoreless. The scoreboard saw more action in the third, starting with a tally from Frantisek Formanek to tie the game at 5:33. Red Deer took their first lead of the game when Kalan Lind found Dwyane Jean Jr. on the back door to make it 3-2. On a late power play opportunity, Calgary pulled goaltender Ethan Buenaventura for the extra attacker. Carter Yakemchuk pulled out the heroics, using Sean Tschigerl as a screen, netted one top shelf tying the game with under two minutes left forcing overtime. Just 41 seconds into extra minutes, Kai Uchacz scored to give Red Deer the victory making the final score 4-3.
With a point in tonight's game, Calgary remains at .500 with a season record of 10-10-2-0.
Calgary's weekday Central Division road trip resumes tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 29 in Lethbridge against the Hurricanes before wrapping up in Medicine Hat against the Tigers on Friday, Dec. 1. Both games are 7:00 p.m. starts. The team will then look forward to the annual Teddy Bear Toss powered by ENMAX on Sunday Dec. 3. Game time is 4:00 p.m. Tickets are available at HitmenHockey.com.
