
Hitmen Fall To Raiders In Prince Albert

Prince Albert, SK - The Calgary Hitmen opened a weekend on the road with a matchup with the Prince Albert Raiders at the Art Hauser Centre. Special teams dominated the contest Friday night, with a total of 13 penalties taken on both sides. Calgary would only be able to strike twice in a 7-2 loss to Prince Albert.
Prince Albert would net the first two goals in the first half of period one taking the lead early seeing goals from Niall Crocker and Aiden Oiring. Oliver Tulk would follow up capitalizing on the power play to cut the lead in half for his third of the season. Aiden Oiring restored Prince Albert's two goal lead with his second of the game heading into the next twenty. The lone goal of period two belonged to the home team and Krzysztof Macias to make it 4-1 heading into the final frame.
Hayden Pakkala would further Prince Albert's lead to four goals in the third at 12:54. Calgary would finally crack the scoreboard again with Carter Yakemchuks's third of the season making it 5-2 with under five minutes to go in regulation. The goal wasn't enough to mount a comeback, with Prince Albert's offense proving to be relentless, finding the back of the net two more times courtesy of Terrell Goldsmith and Matej Kubiesa, sealing the deal on a 7-2 victory.
Shots remained tight throughout the contest with a final shot clock of 35-32 in favour of Prince Albert.
Calgary has one more game left on the Eastern swing with the Saskatoon Blades Saturday night (Oct. 14). Calgary will then have one more road stop in Lethbridge on Oct. 18 before finally returning to Scotiabank Saddledome on Friday, Oct. 20 to host the defending WHL Champion Seattle Thunderbirds in a 7:00 p.m. start.
