Calgary Hitmen News Release

Moose Jaw, SK - The Calgary Hitmen continued their four game Saskatchewan road trip tonight in Moose Jaw against the Warriors.

It was a scoreless game between the clubs for the first 20 minutes. Moose Jaw was the first to crack the scoreboard on the power play with one from Atley Calvert in the second period. That would remain the lone goal of the game until Riley Fiddler-Schultz notched his 21st goal of the season with helpers from Jacob Wright and Tyson Galloway. Calgary and Moose Jaw traded penalties throughout the third, with the majority of the period dedicated to special teams.

Two Calgary power plays with less than five minutes to go gave Calgary an opportunity to take the lead but were unable to get one in regulation. Calgary started extra minutes with the man advantage, but Moose Jaw successfully killed it off and the game was pushed to a shootout.

It was a one goal shootout with Zac Funk scoring in fourth round giving Calgary the 2-1 win and putting them just one point being Moose Jaw in the standings. Ethan Buenaventura earned second star making 35 saves while Riley Fiddler-Schultz earned first star.

Calgary will wrap up their four-game Saskatchewan road trip on Sunday, Jan. 8 in Regina against the Pats. The Hitmen will then return to Calgary to play their next five on home ice. It all begins Friday, Jan. 13 at Scotiabank Saddledome against the Swift Current Broncos. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
