Calgary Hitmen News Release

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen, winners of six in a row, are heading to the 2019 Western Hockey League Playoffs.

Last night's 6-5 Hitmen overtime victory in Medicine Hat, coupled with results on the out of town scoreboard, means Calgary has mathematically clinched a post-season berth.

This marks the 20th time in the club's 24-year franchise history Calgary will compete for a WHL title.

The Hitmen have captured the Ed Chynoweth Cup as WHL Champions on two occasions, in 1999 and 2010.

Further information on the 2019 Hitmen playoffs will be announced next week.

Calgary, four points behind the Central Division co-leaders in Edmonton and Lethbridge, will return to the Scotiabank Saddledome tomorrow, Friday, Mar. 8 to host the Oil Kings in the environmental initiative called One Ticket, One Tree. For each game day and group ticket sold, the Hitmen will plant a tree for reforestation projects in the province. Game time is 7:00 p.m.

The following night on Saturday, Mar. 9, the Hitmen will wrap up their season series with the Hurricanes in Lethbridge.
