September 29, 2023 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Calgary Hitmen News Release
Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club have named Tyson Galloway as the 31st Captain in franchise history. The group is rounded out by three alternates; Sean Tschigerl, Grayden Siepmann and David Adaszynski.
"Tyson has been a huge part of our team's leadership and culture for the past several years. He is driven, focused and able to set the tone for our room." said Calgary Hitmen Head coach Steve Hamilton "He will continue the tremendous legacy of leadership for the Hitmen this season."
Galloway is entering his fifth and final season with the team and has appeared in 183 career games, all with the Hitmen. The product of Kamloops, BC was drafted by Calgary in the second round (25th overall) in the 2018 WHL Prospects Draft. Originally selected by the St. Louis Blues in fifth round of the 2021 NHL Draft, Galloway most recently attended the Calgary Flames Training Camp before returning to the Hitmen this past week. He succeeds captain, Riley Fiddler-Schultz, who recently signed a contract with the Rochester Americans (AHL) this past summer.
"Being a part of this organization as long as I have is very special and this a huge honour" said Galloway "These guys make it easy to come to the rink and have fun. I look forward to getting to work and going to battle with this team every day."
The leadership group is completed by 20-year-old forward Sean Tschigerl, Grayden Siepmann and David Adaszynski.
"We are well represented with the leadership group for the 2023-24 season represented by four players that have been drafted and developed within the organization" continued Hamilton. "Each player brings qualities that represent and support the vision of leadership that we have come to expect from Calgary Hitmen players."
The Hitmen are in Swift Current tonight to face off against the Broncos before returning to the Scotiabank Saddledome to welcome the Saskatoon Blades on Sunday, October 1st.
