Hitmen Acquire Overage Defenceman Giffen Nyren From Kamloops Blazers

Calgary, AB - Calgary Hitmen General Manager Kelly Kisio announced today the acquisition of 20-year-old defenceman Giffen Nyren from the Kamloops Blazers in exchange for a conditional sixth round pick in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft.
"We felt we needed to add some experience to our blue line and with over 200 games played in the WHL Giffen has played in a lot of key situations," said Kisio. "We expect him to play some big minutes for our hockey team and help solidify our defence."
Nyren will make his Hitmen debut Friday night when Calgary opens a two game tour of Saskatchewan in Prince Albert against the Raiders.
