Kamloops Blazers News Release
Kamloops, BC - Craig Bonner, Vice President and General Manager of the Kamloops Blazers Hockey Club, has announced that the Club has named Guy Charron as Head Coach.
Charron, who hails from Verdun, QC, was a forward in the NHL for 12 seasons where he tallied 530 points - including 221 goals - over a 734 game career.
More recently, Charron spent 3 seasons behind the bench of the Florida Panthers as Assistant Coach. Following his playing career, Guy has coached 17 seasons in the NHL, AHL and QMJHL in both the head and assistant coach capacities.
Perhaps most notable, he served as Head Coach for the Canadian World Junior Team that captured gold in 1990.
"Guy brings a new dimension to our team. We are confident we will benefit from his knowledge and experience, and he is a proven teacher at all levels. It's hard to overlook the success he's enjoyed in both the junior and pro classes," stated Bonner.
"I'd like to thank Craig Bonner and the Blazers organization for this exciting opportunity. I can't wait to get started and welcome the challenge, and I look forward to working with Scott, Geoff and Dan on the Blazers coaching staff," said Charron.
Scott Ferguson and Geoff Smith remain as Assistant Coaches with the Club.
