Kamloops, BC - The Kamloops Blazers announced today that they have acquired 20 year old defenseman Ryan Funk from the Vancouver Giants in exchange for 18 year old forward Brett Lyon.

The 6'0" 188lb defenseman has played 242 WHL games with the Saskatoon Blades and Vancouver Giants. Last season with the Blades, Funk scored 4 goals and added 17 assists for 21 points playing in all 72 games. Funk, a Morden, Manitoba native, was also second on the team in +/- at +34 and in penalty minutes with 127.

"We feel Ryan will be an upgrade for our defence," Bonner said. "He is a strong two way defenseman who is going to bring a lot of character and leadership to our group."

"We'd like to thank Brett for his time with the Blazers and wish him the best in Vancouver," Bonner concluded.

The Blazers roster now sits at 23 players, including 14 forwards, 7 defensemen, and 2 goaltenders.
