
Hitmen Acquire James Malm and a Conditional Draft Pick from the Vancouver Giants

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club today announced they have acquired 19-year-old forward James Malm and a conditional pick in the 2020 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft from the Vancouver Giants in exchange for 18-year-old forward Tristen Nielsen.
"James is a proven scorer in our league who can play centre or the wing and will fit nicely into our top six forwards," said Hitmen General Manager Jeff Chynoweth. "We would like to thank Tristen for his time in Calgary both on and off the ice and wish him success moving forward with the Giants."
Malm, a product of Langley, BC has tallied 134 points (48g, 86a) in 179 games during parts of four seasons with the Giants. He has finished among the Giants' top three scorers in each of the past two seasons and leads Vancouver in scoring this season with 15 points in 13 games.

Malm was originally selected by Vancouver in the second round, 44th overall, in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft. He is expected to make his Hitmen debut this weekend when the team plays three games in three days.
Calgary begins their busy 72 hours with Game 3 of their four game homestand on Friday, Nov. 2 against the Medicine Hat Tigers. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at the Scotiabank Saddledome for RE/MAX Chuck-A-Puck where four lucky participants will win a hot air balloon ride courtesy of RE/MAX. The Hitmen will also welcome the Calgary Domestic Violence Collective to the game. As a show of support Hitmen players will wear a purple ribbon on their helmets to recognize Family Violence Prevention Month.
The homestand then wraps on Saturday, Nov. 3 in a 1:30 matinee at the 'Dome against the Red Deer Rebels. It's also the Diwali Celebration. The afternoon will include South Asian Cuisine on the concourse, Bhangra Dancers and a Festival of Lights.
Calgary will then cap the weekend with a return trip to Medicine Hat on Sunday, Nov. 4 for a 6:00 p.m. start against the Tigers.
