Swift Current Broncos News Release
Swift Current, SK: The Swift Current Broncos completed a trade with the Everett Silvertips on Wednesday afternoon, acquiring 2001-born defenceman Alex Moar in exchange for defenceman Artyom Minulin and an eighth-round pick in the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft.
Moar was selected in the fifth round, 102nd overall, by the Everett Silvertips in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft. The 5'9?, 165lb product of Prince Albert, SK, has played in four contests for the defending Western Conference Champion Silvertips this season, all being the first four games of his WHL career.
In 74 career games with the Prince Albert Mintos of the Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League, Moar posted 46 points (7g-39a) to go along with 18 penalty minutes. He also registered nine points (1g-8a) in nine playoff games last season.
Going to Everett, the 20-year-old Minulin spent his entire WHL career in Swift Current after being selected in the first round, 29th overall from the 2015 CHL Import Draft.
"We would like to thank Arty for all his contributions to the team and the community," said Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations Dean Brockman. "He was a great player for our organization and wish him all the best. We're excited to work with Alex and think he can be a very good player for us now and into the future."
Minulin recorded 126 points (26g-100a) and a plus-66 rating in 206 career regular season games from 2015-18. The 6'2?, 201lb rear guard also put up 15 points (3g-12a) in 34 playoff games and was a part of the 2018 WHL Championship squad.
Moar is expected to arrive in Swift Current in time for the club's Bronco Strong game slated for Friday, November 2nd against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
