Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa â You've seen the signs on television, especially at collegiate sporting events. The camera pans the audience and one, two or 20 signs are hoisted sending regards to their mothers.
Now it's your turn, Kernels fans.
Today's Kernels game against the West Michigan Whitecaps will be televised by FOX 28/40.
The television station will pick up the live feed from Metro Communications that is shown on the scoreboard's Rockwell-Collins GameLink nearly every Kernels game.
So here's how you send Mom that special Mothers Day greeting. First, make a sign that will be large enough for people to read on the Rockwell-Collins GameLink. Then slip a tape into your VCR, set it to turn on at 2 p.m., grab your sign and head for the ballpark.
Keep one eye on the Rockwell-Collins GameLink and your sign at your fingertips so that when Metro makes one of its many crowd shots, you'll be ready to flash your sign.
We have another way of accomplishing the task for the technologically challenged. You can purchase a copy of the game tape at the Blimpie Fan Services Center.
Today also is Mercy Women's Center Heart to Heart Day. The first 1,000 women age 18 and older will receive a free navy blue baseball cap courtesy of the Heart to Heart program.
Today also is a Krispy Kreme Sundae. Those delectable delights â featuring a Krispy Kreme doughnut, Well's Blue Bunny ice cream and either chocolate or strawberry toppings â are on sale for $2.00.
Game time is at 2 p.m. Gates open at 1 p.m.
The ticket office opens at 10 a.m.
