
Rattlers Tame Yankees, 6-2

APPLETON, Wis. â T.A. Fulmer fired a complete-game four-hitter to lead the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers to a 6-2 triumph over the Battle Creek Yankees in a Midwest League baseball game Saturday afternoon at Fox Cities Stadium. The Rattlers have won the first two games of the series, which continues with games Sunday afternoon and Monday night.
The Rattlers hit three home runs to back Fulmer, who retired 16 of the last 18 batters he faced. In his last start, Fulmer (2-2) was ripped for nine hits and seven earned runs in 3.1 innings at Lansing. But he tamed the Yankees â who went down 1-2-3 in six of the nine innings.
Dustin Delucchi slugged the second pitch of the game from Yankees starter Brandon Harmsen (1-2) for a home run â giving the Ratters a 1-0 lead in the first.
Battle Creek tied the game with a run in the fourth. With two outs, Jayson Drobiak doubled â the Yankees' first hit of the game â and scored on an RBI single by Omir Santos.
The tie didn't last long. Michael Garciaparra ripped a solo homer with one out in the bottom of the fourth for a 2-1 lead for the Rattlers. Wisconsin added a run in the sixth for a 3-1 lead.
Battle Creek reliever Thad Markray came on to start the seventh, and after getting the first two men out, hit a batter and gave up a single. Matt Hagen then crushed a three-run homer to put the Rattlers ahead 6-1.
Steven Wiseman pitched the eight for the Yankees, striking out the side.
Alexander Santa had the Yankees' only other hits â a one-out single in the sixth and a lead-off triple in the ninth. Santa scored in the ninth on a groundout RBI by Drobiak for the 6-2 final.
