Herrera outdueled in loss

ALTOONA, PA - Randy Boone silenced the Curve bats as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (AA-Toronto Blue Jays) even its series with the Altoona Curve with a 4-2 win Saturday night at Blair County Ballpark.

Boone (9-7) tossed 7.0 innings allowing just one hit while striking out six for his ninth Double-A win of the season. Danny Farquhar came on in the eighth inning to collect his 11th save of the year.

New Hampshire got on the board in the first inning with an RBI single by Darin Mastroianni. The Fisher Cats (54-65) tacked on insurance runs in the seventh and ninth to secure the win.

The Curve's scored runs in the eighth and ninth innings on an RBI singles by Jeff Corsaletti and Steve Lerud.

In his bid win number 10 Curve starter Yoslan Herrera (9-1) tossed 5.0 innings allowing just one run on six hits while matching a career-high in strike outs with six.

Altoona and New Hampshire finish up their three game series Sunday night at Blair County Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. with radio coverage starting at 5:35 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Altoona Curve Radio Network.

6'6 right hander Mike Crotta (6-6, 4.83) will attempt to win his third straight start for Altoona Sunday when he faces New Hampshire's Kenny Rodriguez (2-3, 4.14).

There will be a Kid's club autograph session prior to Sunday's contest and following the series finale kids can run the bases and there will be a spectacular fireworks display. Great seats still remain for Sunday and each of the other six remaining Curve home games.
