Cleburne Railroaders News Release
CLEBURNE, Texas - The Cleburne Railroaders got a pair of two-run home runs from Ramon Hernandez and Alay Lago on their way to a 10-5 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs on Tuesday night at The Depot at Cleburne Station.
Hernandez got the scoring started in the first inning with a lined shot just over the wall in left for a 2-0 Cleburne lead. It was the 10th home run of the season for Hernandez, becoming the first Railroaders player to reach double-figure long balls on the season.
Lincoln (17-18) answered with a two-run double from Josh Altmann in the top of the third, tying the game at 2-2.
The Railroaders (19-18) snatched the lead back with four runs in the bottom of the inning. A bases-loaded hit by pitch by Hunter Clanin put Cleburne in front 3-2, then a pair of sacrifice flies from John Nester and Noah Vaughan pushed the advantage to 5-2. Osvaldo Martinez ripped a two-out RBI single to cap the scoring in the inning.
David Vidal roped a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth, but Cleburne answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning on a Martinez RBI triple and a Hernandez sacrifice fly.
Lago cranked a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to push the Railroaders advantage out to 10-3, before the Saltdogs scratched across two runs in the top of the ninth for the final margin.
Tyler Wilson started as an opener for Cleburne, setting the side down in order in the first. Garrett Alexander (4-4) picked up the win in relief, tossing 4.1 innings with seven strikeouts to earn the victory. Michael Krauza and Brendan Bell fired scoreless relief before Alex Fishberg recorded the game's final three outs.
Walter Borkovich (1-3) took the loss for Lincoln, surrendering six runs over five innings of work.
The Railroaders and Saltdogs continue the series on Wednesday night at 7:06 PM. Lincoln starts right-hander John Richy (2-3, 8.05), while Cleburne has yet to announce their starter.
