Herd Drops to Blue Coats

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost to the Delaware Blue Coats 107-102.
Glenn Robinson III and Stevie Thomspon Jr. led the Herd with 21 points each while Wenyen Gabriel followed with 15 points.
The Delaware Blue Coats' top scorer was Jeff Dowtin Jr. with 32 points Patrick McCaw and Darius Bazley added 16 points apiece.
The Blue Coats converted a three-point play to grab the first lead of the game. Glenn Robinson III and Wenyen Gabriel combined for six straight points to push the Herd ahead. Wisconsin continued to control the game going up 15-8 with six minutes on the clock. The Blue Coats countered with eight unanswered points to go ahead. The teams traded the lead five times before the Herd grabbed a four-point edge. Delaware came back firing and took over 27-24 at the end of the first.
Marques Bolden opened the second quarter with six consecutive points for the Herd giving them a three-point advantage. Delaware came back to even the game before Glenn Robinson III converted a four-point play to keep the Herd in control. Wisconsin pushed ahead 47-43 at the five-minute. Delaware answered with sequential baskets to go ahead by two. A three-pointer by Stevie Thompson Jr. put the Herd ahead but Delaware came back to secure a 54-52 lead at the break. Glenn Robinson III and Marques Bolden guided the Herd with 12 points apiece in the first half.
Malachi Smith knocked down a jump shot to tie the game early in the third quarter. The Blue Coats hit three shots beyond the arc to push ahead. Wenyen Gabriel secured three straight baskets, but it wasn't enough to take the lead. A layup by Glenn Robinson III tied the game while Wenyen Gabriel followed with a dunk to take the edge. Wisconsin increased its head start to five with four minutes left. Delaware came back to make it a one-point game, but the Herd returned to push ahead by five. The Blue Coats answered to tie the game 78-78 at the end of the third quarter.
Stevie Thomspon Jr. connected on a three-point shot in the first Herd possession of the fourth quarter. Delaware responded to tie the game at the nine-minute mark but back-to-back shots by Elijah Hughes gave the Herd the advantage. The Blue Coats made it a two-point game, but Glenn Robinson III knocked down two straight shots. The Herd held a six-point lead until Delaware hit an 8-2 run to even the game with less than two minutes remaining. The Blue Coats didn't stop, converting six unanswered points. Delaware held off Wisconsin to win 107-102.
The Herd will play the Osceola Magic on the road Monday, January 29 with tip-off set for 6:00 p.m. CST.
