
Herd Close Out The Season Against Capital City

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost to the Capital City Go-Go 114-104. The Herd made a strong start taking a four-point lead early in the first quarter but the Go-Go responded to tie the game 21-21 and later built to a three-point advantage at the half. The Herd stayed close in the third quarter by shooting over 50% from 27 attempts. The Capital City ran away with the lead shooting 60% from the three-point line and securing the win.
Five Herd players posted double-digits in scoring including three with 20+ points. Jontay Porter and Paris Bass combined to pace the Herd with 23 a piece while Deividas Sirvydis followed with 22 points. Iverson Molinar and Blake Marquardt followed with 12 points each. The Herd out hustled the Go-Go in several stat lines including field goals made (41-40), three-pointers made (15-14), assists (28-26) and steals (7-6).
Jay Huff guided the Go-Go with a double-double of 31 points and 13 rebounds while Devon Dotson posted 27 points.
Paris Bass and Brandon Sampson combined for the first four points to grab the lead of the game. The Go-Go answered to tie the game before Deividas Sirvydis hit a three to keep the Herd ahead. The Go-Go stole the lead but it wasn't long till the Herd answered with six points. Jontay Porter closed out the first quarter with the Herd's last seven points, tying the game 21-21.
The Go-Go hit the first basket of the second quarter but Anthony Tarke and Deividas Sirvydis teamed up for eight points to put the Herd up by six. The two teams traded baskets while the Herd steadily increased to a nine-point lead at the six-minute mark. The Go-Go took control of the game, scoring 16 uninterrupted points to go ahead by seven points. Deividas Sirvydis hit a four-point play to stop Capital City's run but the Go-Go held on to lead 46-43 at the end of the first half. The Herd was led by Deividas Sirvydis with 13 points.
Capital City swished a three-point shot to start the third quarter but Deividas Sirvydis and Iverson Molinar united for six points to tie the game 49-49. The two teams traded the lead twice before the Herd powered up to a three-point lead. Paris Bass scored four points while Jontay Porter added a three-point shot at the four-minute mark. Capital City popped off with 12 unanswered points to take a double-digit advantage with less than two minutes remaining. Blake Marquardt swished a three while Jontay Porter hit back-to-back layups to bring the Herd within seven. The Go-Go took the 81-74-point advantage at the end of the third quarter.
Iverson Molinar hit the first Herd basket for the fourth quarter while Paris Bass and Jontay Porter followed with consecutive three-pointers to bring the Herd within eight. The two teams traded baskets until the Herd hit succeeding baskets including two three-point shots from Blake Marquardt. The Go-Go ran away with eight points to put the Herd down by double-digits. Deividas Sirvydis and Alex Antetokounmpo hit the next nine points and Blake Marquardt hit a buzzer-beater three to end the game. The Go-Go beat the Herd 114-104.
The Herd did not qualify for playoffs and will return in the 2023-24 season.
