Hens Win 4-1 for Fourth Straight Win

The Mud Hens cruised to a 4-1 win Thursday night at Fifth Third Field for their season-high fourth straight win.

The Hens struck first in the second inning when Brad Davis delivered an RBI sacrifice fly to score Ben Guez and give Toledo an early 1-0 lead. Another run was tacked on in the next inning after Argenis Diaz and Ramon Cabrera led off with back-to-back doubles to score Diaz and give the Hens a two-run advantage.

Jordan Lennerton extended the Hens lead to 3-0 when he drove in Diaz with a fifth-inning single. He knocked in another run with a single late in the seventh to extend the Hens lead further.

Derek Hankins carried a shutout until the seventh when Melky Mesa lined one deep to left for his fifth homer of the season, cutting the Hens lead to 3-1. Brayan Villarreal came on in relief to preserve the Hens lead for two innings before Bruce Rondon shut the door for his eighth save of the season.

The Hens will look to complete their first sweep of 2013 tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at Fifth Third Field. Luke Putkonen (1-0, 1.89) is scheduled to make his first start of the year for Toledo.
