Rochester Red Wings News Release
GAME NOTES:
-THE LEAD: Trailing 5-4 after losing a 4-0 lead, Ray Olmedo delivered a two-run single in the bottom of the 9th inning with the bases loaded to send the Red Wings to their first walk-off win of the season, 6-5, Thursday afternoon at Frontier Field. The win, the Wings first when trailing after 8 innings this season (previously 0-17), snapped a 3-game losing streak.
-Chris Colabello and Jeff Clement hit the first back-to-back home runs of the season for the Wings in the first inning. The last time the Wings went back-to-back was August 23, 2012 when Chris Parmelee and Wilkin Ramirez turned the trick against Lehigh Valley... On the season the Wings have now hit 38 home runs -- 6 in the last 2 games. Rochester entered the day 3rd in the IL in homers -- 12 behind Buffalo's 48.
-Colabello now has 3 home runs in the last two games -- all 2-run homers. He finished the day 2-for-3 with a walk and 2 RBI to extend his hit streak to 8 games over which he is hitting .482 (14-for-29) with 5 doubles, 3 home runs, 9 RBI and 5 runs scored... Going back further, Colabello has hit in 17 of his last 18 games (.397; 29-for-73) with 9 multi-hit efforts over that span.
-Eric Farris' hitting streak was snapped at 9 games after going 0-for-3 with a walk. He hit .355 (11-for-31) with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored during the streak... Farris is now the 4th different Red Wing, whose hit streak has stalled at 9 this season (Thomas, Colabello & Benson)
-Wings starter Samuel Deduno turned in his longest outing of the season and struck out a tied for team-high 8 in the process.... LHP Rafael Perez earned his first win in a Red Wings uniform working around two walks to toss a scoreless 9th inning.
-Danny Lehmann picked up his first hit as a Red Wing with a single in the 2nd inning... Doug Bernier picked up a pinch-hit bunt single in the 9th and scored the winning run from 2nd base on Olmedo rip down the right field line.
