Toledo Mud Hens News Release

With a mighty swing on Monday night at Fifth Third Field, Mike Hessman became the Minor League Baseball all-time career home run king. Please join us on Friday, August 7 as the Mud Hens and the Detroit Tigers will celebrate Hessman's historic homer during a special ceremony prior to the Hens game against Scranton Wilkes-Barre.

Home run number 433 of Hessman's minor league career was a grand slam in the seventh inning off of Lehigh Valley pitcher Dustin McGowan. That surpassed the 432 career minor league home runs hit by Buzz Arlett, a record which stood since 1937. Before he hit number 433, Hessman was already the all-time home run king of the Toledo Mud Hens and the International League. Hessman has also hit 14 Major League home runs during his time with Atlanta, Detroit and the New York Mets.

Fans are encouraged to arrive at Fifth Third Field by 6:30 p.m. on Friday to pick up a commemorative 'Mike Hessman 433' poster and to support Hessman during the pregame on-field presentation.

Call 419-725-4367 for tickets to Friday's game or order online.
