(Uptown Charlotte, NC) - Matt Davidson tied the game 3-3 in the seventh inning with his team-leading 17th home run of the season, but the Buffalo Bisons answered with four runs over the final two innings to top the Charlotte Knights 7-3 on Tuesday night at BB&T Ballpark.

Davidson's two-run homer off of Steve Delabar put the Knights third baseman into sole possession of third place in the International League with 17 long balls, three behind league-leader J.P. Arencibia of the Durham Bulls. The 24-year-old now has 56 RBIs on the season, good enough for second most on the team and seventh most in the IL. In 2014, the California native tallied 20 homers in his first season as a Knight, the fourth highest total among IL batters.

The Bisons responded to the game-tying long ball with a pair of runs in both the eighth and ninth innings. IL batting-leader Matt Hague broke the tie with a two-out, infield-single that scored Dalton Pompey from third base to give Buffalo a 4-3 advantage. After a wild pitch, Luke Scott recorded an RBI-single of his own that scored Hague. Sean Ochinko added another insurance run on an RBI-ground-out in the top of the ninth inning, before Jon Berti scored on an Onelki Garcia wild pitch to push the lead to 7-3.

Hector Noesi got the start on the mound for Charlotte in the series opener, and allowed three runs over seven solid innings in his fourth start (fifth game) as a Knight this season. With two outs in the fourth inning, a single and a pair of walks loaded the bases for Berti, who cleared the bases with a double to account for all three runs against the Knights starter. Noesi would not factor in the decision.

Dayan Viciedo cut the Buffalo lead to 3-1 in the fifth inning with his first home run since rejoining the Knights last week. The 26-year-old spent parts of five seasons in the majors with the White Sox, and last played for Charlotte in 2013. The home run was his first as a Knight since August 25, 2011.

Charlotte will continue their ten-game homestand with the second of three games against the Bisons on Wednesday night. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. as Kyle Drabek is set to take the mound for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
