Bats Even Set with a 5-2 Win over Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va- The Louisville Bats (56-56) secured a 5-2 victory Tuesday night against the Norfolk Tides (64-45). Designated hitter Brennan Boesch went 3-for-4 with one walk and three RBI to contribute to the victory.

A solo homer from Boesch gave the Bats an early 1-0 lead over the Tides in the second. Boesch knocked in two Bats in the third with a single to center extending the lead to 3-0.

Lefty Brandan Finnegan started on the mound for the Bats and left the game in the third. Righty Josh Smith (W, 2-3, 3.46) relieved Finnegan and grabbed the win. Smith threw six innings allowing one hit and four strike outs.

Righty Kenn Kasparek (L, 0-1, 11.57) started on the mound for Norfolk and left in the third. He allowed three hits, three earned runs, two walks, two strike outs and one home run.

Finnegan's second start with the Bats he threw two innings, allowed one hit, three walks and struck out one.

A RBI double from first baseman Christian Walker gave Norfolk their first run of the night in the sixth. Steve Clevenger followed with a ground out to first which brought home another Tide cutting the Bats lead to 3-2.

RBI single by right fielder Juan Silva tacked on a run in the eighth putting the Bats ahead 4-2. A solo home run by Adam Duvall sent the Bats to a 5-2 lead. Duvall now has two home runs in just three games with the Bats.

The Bats face Norfolk at Harbor Park again tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. Projected to take the mound for Louisville is righty Donn Roach (1-1, 6.00) and lefty Chris Jones (6-5, 3.00) for Norfolk.
