Today's Game

Tonight, the Bisons take on the Charlotte Knights in the first game of a three-game series at BB&T Ballpark (7:05 p.m.). Buffalo had a day off Monday following a 2-1 loss at the hands of the Pawtucket Red Sox on Sunday at Coca-Cola Field. This southern swing is the last time Buffalo will face opponents from outside the IL North in the regular season.

vs. the Knights

The Bisons are 3-1 against the Knights this season. The Bisons picked up the series win when Charlotte visited Coca-Cola Field, June 11-14, taking the first three games before the Knights prevented the sweep in the final contest of the set. A win today would ensure back-to-back season series wins over Charlotte for the first time since 2004-05.

Scott Copeland

RHP SCOTT COPELAND makes his 14th start for the Bisons tonight. The righty earned his team-high eighth win of the season, when he tossed six frames in Buffalo's 8-5 victory in Syracuse, July 29. In that outing, he gave up three runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out three. Copeland is 5.1 IP shy of qualifying for the best ERA (2.13) in the International League.

MattVP

INF MATT HAGUE continues to lead the IL in many offensive categories. His 76 RBI, .343 batting average, 141 hits and .425 on-base pct. are all tops among qualified players. He also ranks in the top five for games played (T1st-107), doubles (2nd-28), walks (2nd-52), runs scored (3rd-59) and slugging pct. (3rd-.474).

Pitching Notes

Bisons starters have not allowed more than one earned run in each of the last six games. The group has a 0.73 ERA over that span since July 28 with 26 strikeouts and 25 hits allowed in 37.0 innings. On the season, Herd starters have a 3.13 ERA and 28 homers allowed in 592.1 innings

Bisons Bits

Since returning to the Herd on July 17, OF DALTON POMPEY has been held hitless just once in 16 games, posting a .457 on-base pct. (25 H, 13 BB)...OF ROEMON FIELDS has been promoted from New Hampshire (AA) after hitting .351 with seven stolen bases in 22 games with the Fisher Cats. OF CALEB GINDL has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to August 2.

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (54-52) defeated the Twins, 5-1, before a sold out crowd at Rogers Centre on Monday. David Price struck out 11 in his Toronto debut and former Bison Ryan Goins hit a long home run in the win. The Blue Jays host Minnesota again tonight at 7:07 p.m.
