Helton to begin medical rehab assignment with Sky Sox

DENVER - The Colorado Rockies announced this afternoon that first baseman Todd Helton would begin a medical rehabilitation assignment tomorrow night in Colorado Springs. Helton, on the Rockies' disabled list since April 20 with acute ileitis, is expected to start and play five innings for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox vs. the Tacoma Rainiers at Security Service Stadium.

The Rockies also announced that Helton would be available at a press briefing beginning at 3:30 p.m. in a room at Security Service Stadium in Colorado Springs. Helton will also be made available when he leaves the game.

At the time of his illness, Helton had appeared in 15 games for the Rockies and was hitting .347 with a homer and nine RBI and was leading the National League with a .529 on-base percentage.
