Round Rock, TX (May 1, 2006) - Express starter Roberto Giron surrendered five runs in the first on Monday night against the Oklahoma RedHawks at The Dell Diamond, but his teammates got him off the hook, coming from behind to win 7-6.
The E-Train got a solo run in the bottom of the first to make it 5-1 Oklahoma, an RBI double from Charlton Jimerson scoring shortstop Jesse Garcia, who doubled with two outs in the second, to make it 5-2. A solo Brooks Conrad homer in the third made it 5-3 Oklahoma. The E-Train tied it at six each on a bases loaded double from catcher Hector Gimenez that cleared the bases.
Conrad got the game winning base hit in the sixth on an RBI double scoring left fielder Luke Scott, who singled to open the inning and ultimately made it the final 7-6.
Starter Giron left after three and a third, having surrendered six runs. The Express bullpen shut down the Hawks offense with lefty Steve Kent, who pitched an inning and two thirds of shutout baseball. Righty Joe Valentine followed by two shutout innings and notched the win; righty David Lee added a shutout inning and Travis Driskill closed it out with a shutout ninth, notching his second save.
