Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - One of the playmakers of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers' defensive dozen has been honoured for his efforts in the team's recent 15-13 win over the Toronto Argonauts at Canad Inns Stadium.
Safety Kyries Hebert was selected the Rogers CFL Defensive Player of the Week following his performance in the Big Blue's Week 9 win over the Boatmen. Hebert collected two key quarterback sacks and four defensive tackles in that critical East Division match-up.
Hebert, who is in his second season with the Bombers, is currently fourth on the team in defensive tackles with 27. He is also tied for the team lead in both fumble recoveries and interceptions and is tied for second among Bomber defenders in quarterback sacks with four.
Hebert has also been one of the Bombers' most outstanding special teams players this season. He leads the team with 14 special team tackles and is tied for the league lead in that category.
Two other Bombers were also praised for their efforts in last week's win. Quarterback Kevin Glenn was a runner-up for Rogers CFL Offensive Player of the Week while kicker Rob Pikula was a runner-up for Rogers CFL Special Teams Player of the Week.
