Andrew Heaney (W, 4-2) earned the win after allowing two runs (both earned) on eight hits in a career-best 7.2 innings of work on Saturday. He struck out eight Blue Wahoos and only walked one batter en route to his fourth win of the season.
Collin Cargill (H, 2) got the final out of the eighth inning and James Nygren (SV, 1) locked down the save and assured the Suns of the series win with a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning.
Jon Moscot (L, 3-3) was saddled with the loss after allowing two runs (both earned) on four hits in five innings, while walking three batters and striking out five.
The Suns and Blue Wahoos were stymied through the first four innings, but the Suns finally broke through with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to take a 2-0 lead. Danny Black drove in Brent Keys with an RBI single and then J.T. Realmuto hit a ball deep enough to score Austin Nola, with right fielder Juan Duran making a fielding error on the play.
It took until the bottom of the sixth for the Blue Wahoos to get on the board, with Devin Lohman (HR, 3) leading off the frame with a solo homer to left to cut the lead to 2-1 in favor of the Suns.
That score would hold until Austin Nola roped a two-run triple into right in the top of the eighth inning to further the lead to 4-1 in favor of the Suns.
Pensacola pushed across a run in the bottom of the eighth inning on a Chris Berset RBI single to finish off Saturday's scoring.
The Suns and Blue Wahoos will be back at it on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. ET. The Suns are due to trot out the righty Angel Sanchez (0-6, 5.80), while the BayBears are set to counter with a right-hander of their own in Michael Lorenzen (2-2, 2.51).
