Jackson Generals News Release

JACKSON, TENN. (MAY 17, 2014) - In a homestand that has featured the Generals (17-25) scoring 44 runs in six games, Jackson was shutout 4-0 by the Montgomery Biscuits (23-19) Saturday at the Ballpark in Jackson. Dylan Floro (3-4, 4.50) handcuffed the Generals in seven shut-out innings and helped his team improve to four games over .500 for the season. The Generals were shutout for the sixth time this season.

Victor Sanchez (0-1, 5.09) held the Biscuits scoreless through the first two innings. However, with two outs a grounder to third went through Patrick Kivlehan's (0x4, 3 K) legs to prolong the inning. The next batter, Jeremy Moore, homered to left and Montgomery took a 3-0 lead with three unearned runs. The homer was Montgomery's first in their last 13 games.

The Biscuits added another run on Richie Shaffer's solo home run in the sixth. Shaffer took the first pitch of the inning off Moises Hernandez (0-2, 4.37) over the left field wall and increased the Montgomery lead to 4-0.

Floro was terrific on the mound for the Biscuits, tossing seven shutout innings, giving up six hits and striking out seven Generals. Floro picked up his third win of the season after having dropped three straight starts.

Starter Victor Sanchez allowed just three unearned runs in four innings of work in his second start since coming off the disabled list. Montgomery managed just two hits off the 19-year-old as Sanchez struck out two and dropped his ERA almost a run and half to 5.09.

The Generals and Biscuits will play the fourth game of this five game set Sunday in Jackson. Jackson will start Trevor Miller (2-4, 3.98) on the mound and Roberto Gomez (1-0, 3.60) will go for Montgomery. Sunday is Family Fun Day with all kids 12-and-under receiving free admission. The game is scheduled to start at 6:05 pm and can be heard on 96.5 ESPN, TuneIn Radio and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
