Mobile Extends Streak to Seven with 5-4 Win Saturday

MOBILE, AL -- The Mobile BayBears won their seventh game in-a-row, defeating the Chattanooga Lookouts 5-4 Saturday night at Hank Aaron Stadium. The Lookouts (16-26) took an early two-run lead but the BayBears (26-16) broke a 4-4 tie, scoring the go-ahead run in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the win, Mobile remains three games ahead of the Montgomery Biscuits and Mississippi Braves for first place in the Southern League South Division Standings.

The Lookouts first run came in the top of the third when Gerson Montilla dropped a fly ball in leftfield with two outs that allowed Darnell Sweeny to score from third. Jeremy Hazelbaker put Chattanooga up 2-0 with a solo homer in the top of the fifth.

With two outs, the BayBears posted four runs in the fifth inning. Montilla reached on an error, scoring Mike Freeman from third and putting runners at first third for David Peralta who scored the tying run with a RBI single. Mobile took a 4-2 advantage just one batter later when Garrett Weber drove in Peralta and Montilla with a two-run double.

After Chattanooga tied the game in to top of the seventh on a solo homer from O'Koyea Dickson, Jake Lamb walked with the bases loaded in the bottom half of the frame to put Mobile ahead 5-4.

RHP Justin Fitzgerald finished with 5.2 innings pitched, six hits and two earned runs but settled for a no decision. RHP Blake Copper (3-0) was credited with the win, despite giving up the tying run in the seventh frame. RHP Jake Barrett recorded his second straight save and sixth of 2014 striking out the side in the bottom of the ninth.

The BayBears will look to extend their win streak to eight games tomorrow afternoon. Mobile and Chattanooga continue their five game series with game four, Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Hank Aaron Stadium with first pitch at 2:05 PM CT.
