Rockford RiverHawks News Release

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Devin Shepherd hit a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th inning on Sunday as the Rockford RiverHawks rallied to beat Evansville, 8-7, at Bosse Field.

Each side lost the lead twice. Rockford reliever Mickey Cassidy secured Rockford's third lead of the night with 2 1/3 scoreless innings to finish the game.

Evan Button and Michael Hur each had three hits for the RiverHawks. In the top of the seventh inning, Rockford scored four times to take a 7-5 lead. Ted Obregon hit a game-tying, two-run single, stole second base and scored when Evansville second baseman Taylor Black ranged right to keep Button's single in the infield, but committed a throwing error on the play.

The Otters rallied for a run on Billy Killian's bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh and tied the game on a passed ball by Greg Van Horn in the eighth.

In the top of the 10th, Hur doubled to right-center field off Tyree Hayes (2-3) and advanced on Mike Thomas's sacrifice bunt. Closer Eric Massingham came on and Shepherd flied to right to drive in Hur.

Cassidy (1-1), who escaped a second-and-third, two-out threat in the ninth inning, retired the side in order in the 10th and earned the win.
