Rascals Flip Script; Win 11-3

O'Fallon, Mo. - After falling 11-2 last night, the Rascals salvaged a game in the three-game series with a six-run fifth inning that sparked an 11-3 win with eight of the nine batters registering at least one hit and one run scored on the night.

Lake Erie (27-24) jumped ahead 2-0 in the first on an error and three singles but the Rascals (27-24) responded with three singles and a sacrifice fly from Jason Patton that scored Eric Williams in the first before Williams plated Ben Hewett after his two-out double with a triple to tie the game at 2-2.

Three more single led to a run in the third for the Crushers before Rascal starter Keli'i Zablan (4-2) retired nine of the next 10 batters to give the offense a chance. They would respond in the fifth.

Patton got it started in the fifth with a single before Charlie Lisk brought him in with a double to tie the game at three. Jeremy Synan followed with a homerun over the Big Dog Wall in right to give River City their first lead at 5-3. Workman reached on an error after the homerun and Bobby Burk followed with a double that chased Lake Erie starter Eric Gonzalez-Diaz (4-5) before Matt Serna singled in two runs and scored on a Williams double to make it 8-3.

Cory Caruso got out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the sixth and the River City bullpen tossed 3 1/3 inning of one-hit baseball as the offense tacked on three more runs in the eighth, two coming on a Lisk homerun while a bases loaded hit-b-pitch to Williams forced in the final run at 11-3.
