Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Albuquerque Isotopes (40-52) offense was completely shut down by a duo of Oklahoma RedHawks (51-42) pitchers for the 4-0 shutout Tuesday night at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Tuesday's loss was the eighth in a row on the road for the ‘Topes and has tied the longest losing streak away from Isotopes Park that was set from May 13-June 7.

Jason Ellison began the bottom of the first by slapping a one-out single to left-center field only to immediately steal second base. With a runner on in scoring position, John Maybury drew a walk to set up Nate Gold who smacked a single to left to load the bases. Then Ryan Roberts hit a sacrifice fly to center that was deep enough for Ellison to tag up and score the game's first run, 1-0.

Taylor Teagarden led off the seventh inning off by hitting a single into shallow center field to set up Joaquin Arias who grounded into a fielder's choice that eliminated Teagarden at second. Then Ellison singled up the middle to advance Arias to second. With two-men on and one-out, Mayberry doubled to left-center field that plated Arias for Oklahoma's second run while Ellison dashed for third. With runners on second and third, Isotopes reliever Ross Wolf threw a wild pitch that allowed Ellison to score for the RedHawks three-run advantage, 3-0. After a Robert's walk, Chris Shelton knocked a two-out single to center to drive in the third run of the inning and give Oklahoma the four-run lead, 4-0.

Thrust into action as a spot starter Brian Gordon pitched a dominant six innings by scattering only two hits and striking out eight Isotopes. Then Paul Kometani continued the strong pitching set by Gordon by adding four more strikeouts and only allowing a hit on the way to securing the 4-0 shutout.

Despite receiving the loss, Dallas Trahern (3-8) pitched quite effectively in his return to his native state of Oklahoma. In six innings of work Trahern only allowed an earned run, while scattering eight hits, and striking out one RedHawk.

Isotopes look to rebound behind right hander Steve Woodard (0-1, 5.60) as he takes the mound for Albuquerque against newly acquired Oklahoma southpaw Jason Stanford (0-0, No ERA), first pitch is scheduled for 10:05 AM MT at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Tomorrow's game can be heard on 1050 KTBL-AM with Robert Portnoy calling the action.
