
Hawks Hang On For Extra Innings Win

Keizer, Oregon - Eric Toole had four hits, including a go-ahead two-run single in the tenth inning that gave the Hawks the lead and eventual victory over the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes by a score of 9-5.
The Hawks scored first for the third consecutive game, getting on the board in the second inning on a throwing error by Volcanoes catcher, Fernando Pujadas.
The Volcanoes tied it up on a Jose Vizciano solo home run before jumping out to a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning.
Scott Burcham pulled the Hawks back into the game when he lifted a two-run fifth inning home run that tied it at 3-3.
The Volcanoes added one run in the bottom of the fifth inning before the Hawks tied the game once again, this time on a home run off the bat of Kevin Padlo, his fourth of the season.
The game would remain tied at 4-4 in the ninth inning until Burcham launched his second home run of the game, giving the Hawks a 5-4 lead.
In this back-and-forth game, it was the Volcanoes turn to tie it up as Miguel Gomez hit an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth, tying the game at 5-5 and sending the Hawks to their first extra-innings game of the season.
In the top of the tenth inning, the Hawks loaded the bases twice and received two-run singles from Eric Toole and Marcos Derkes, giving them the 9-5 victory.
Cristian Quintin pitched the ninth and tenth innings and picked up his second win for the Hawks. E.J Encinosa gave up four runs in the tenth and took the loss for the Volcanoes.
Notes: Richard Prigatano made his first game appearance since June 23 at Eugene... Scott Burcham hit two home runs; it was the first multi-homer game for a Hawks player since Jesse Hodges hit two homers in Tri-City on July 1, 2014... Eric Toole added four hits and now has seven hits in the last two games... The Hawks grabbed their first series win of the season.
