Hawks End Losing Streak With Victory Over Emeralds

BOISE, Idaho - Dustin Harrington went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI and the Boise bullpen tossed four shutout innings, helping the Hawks end a three-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory over the Eugene Emeralds before 2,906 fans at Memorial Stadium.

Harrington lined an RBI double in the fourth inning off Eugene starter Juan Herrera, scoring Blair Springfield from second for the go-ahead run, adding a two-out RBI single in the eighth for insurance.

Jose Rosario picked up his second win of the season and his first since June 22, tossing a season-high five innings, striking out five. Sheldon McDonald threw two scoreless innings of relief, with Dustin Fitzgerald striking out Zach Kometani and Lee Orr in the eighth with the tying run at second for the Ems. Bryce Shafer tossed a 1-2-3 ninth for his ninth save of the year.

Willson Contreras and Pin-Chieh Chen each had two hits in the win for Boise, who improved to 18-8 at home this season, while Jace Peterson and Travis Whitmore each had two hits in the loss for Eugene.

Game 2 of the series is tomorrow night, with Austin Reed meeting Colin Rea at 7:15 p.m.

NOTES - McDonald made his Hawks debut tonight after being called up from the AZL-Cubs, replacing LHP Cam Greathouse...the Hawks are now 3-3 this season against the Ems.
