 Everett AquaSox

12-2 Rout Stamps Sox Sweep of Vancouver

August 10, 2011 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Everett AquaSox News Release

EVERETT, Wash. -- A nine-run sixth inning explosion provided the knockout punch for the Everett AquaSox (9-5, 25-27) to seal a dominant three-game sweep of the Vancouver Canadians (5-9, 29-23) by a score of 12-2, Everett's seventh consecutive home win and first home series sweep this season.

Right-fielder Jabari Blash hit a grand slam to cap off the offensive outburst for the Frogs, and all nine runs were scored with two outs in the inning to turn a close 2-1 game in to a blowout. After third baseman Ramon Morla started the rally with a two-run shot to the homer porch in right field, his first of two home runs in the game, the Sox capitalized on four Vancouver errors to put up three runs before the Blash blast. Vancouver committed 12 errors in the series.

Making his second career minor league start and first at Everett Memorial, AquaSox right-hander Jordan Pries (2-2, 3.62 ERA) went five innings allowing just one run on a solo home run by first baseman Kevin Patterson in the third inning. Sox starters allowed four runs in 17 innings combined in the series.

Everett outscored the Canadians 24-5 and hit six home runs in the sweep. The Frogs start a five game series with the Tri-City Dust Devils as they send out left-hander Cameron Hobson (0-1, 2.45 ERA), making his first career minor league start, against right-hander Ricardo Ferrer (1-3, 3.99 ERA) at 7:05 p.m.
