Hartford Calls Up Checkers Nightingale

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League announced today that they have signed Charlotte Checkers defenseman, Jared Nightingale to a Professional Tryout contract.

Nightingale, 6'3, 195 lbs, hails from Cheboygan, Michigan. In 50 games for the Checkers this season, he has accumulated one goal, eight assists for nine points with 137 penalty minutes. Currently, he leads ECHL defenseman in fighting majors with 13 and his total penalty minutes places him fourth overall amongst blueliners. Nightingale started his pro career with the Springfield Falcons (AHL) in the 2005-06 season after spending four seasons with Michigan State University. Last season, he was a member of the Kelly Cup Champion Idaho Steelheads.

The Checkers began their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next home game takes place on Feb 20 against the Florida Everblades. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date.
