Erie SeaWolves News Release
Harrisburg's late rally ended Erie's three-game winning streak as they defeated the SeaWolves 4-2.
Each team traded first-inning runs. Colt Keith, the second batter of the game, homered off of Harrisburg starter Jackson Rutledge to give Erie a 1-0 lead. It was Keith's first action since Saturday.
Harrisburg tied the game at one in the bottom half. Jack Dunn walked with one out against Erie starter Sawyer Gipson-Long. James Wood followed with a sharp double which scored Dunn.
Each starter settled in through the next two innings. In the fourth, Erie went ahead. Wenceel Perez walked, stole second base, and advanced to third on Andrew Navigato's single. Navigato was then caught stealing second, but Perez scored on catcher Jarrett Gonzalez's throw to second base to catch Navigato.
J.T. Arruda opened Harrisburg's fifth inning with a line-drive home run to tie the game up at two.
Gipson-Long wound up with a no-decision, allowing two runs on two hits with three walks and six strikeouts. Rutledge also had a no-decision, throwing seven strong innings. He allowed two runs on four hits with three walks and six strikeouts.
Tim Naughton struck out the side in order in the seventh for Erie. He opened the eighth on the mound as well, but departed after allowing a leadoff single to Gonzalez. Adam Wolf entered and would allow a one-out double to Dunn. Wood scored the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly. Terone Harris tacked on an insurance run with a two-out RBI single.
Lucas Knowles (1-0) stranded the bases loaded in the top of the eighth and earned the win in relief. Naughton (1-1) was charged with the loss. Joel Peguero picked up his ninth save, working around a leadoff single in the ninth inning.
Erie holds their one-game division lead into the fourth game of the series. Wilmer Flores opposes Cole Henry at 7:00 p.m.
