Harrisburg Senators News Release
Today's Game... The Senators embark upon a six-game road trip against two Southern Division opponents beginning tonight in Altoona. Tonight is the first of three games with the Curve before the Senators head to Erie for three games this weekend. The Senators send RHP Beltran Perez to the mound this evening against RHP Matt Peterson of the Curve. Perez has been the best Senators starter over the past two weeks. In their previous road trip the Senators went 5-5 on their three-city swing through New Hampshire, New Britain, and Binghamton.
Last Time Out... David Maust made his strongest start since April, and the Senators scored just enough to defeat the New Britain Rock Cats to complete the three-game sweep over New Britain. The Senators scored a single run in the first, then in the third inning Tim Raines Jr. hit a two-run homer, his first as a Senator, and then Kory Casto followed with a solo blast to put the Sens up 4-0. That was more than enough for the Senators pitching staff and defense. Brett Campbell retired the side in the ninth for his second save of the year. And for the fourth straight game, the Senators did not commit an error.
Hot Hot Hot... Since June 3rd, the last of the moves, the Senators are 7-1. That includes the final two games of their road trip against Binghamton; then they took two of three from the Connecticut Defenders including the 11 inning win on Thursday night; and finally the three-game sweep of the Rock Cats. Prentice Redman is 9 x 21 with 5 RBIs over the past five games; Seth Bynum has played flawless at short stop plus he's 6 for his last 14 and 3 RBIs; Salomon Manriquez is 7 x 15 with a HR and 3 RBIs and is now among the league leaders in hitting. As a team the Senators are batting .326 over their past five games and are averaging over six runs per game in that time frame. The pitching staff has allowed just 35 earned runs over the past 10 games which is good for a 3.38 ERA.
Versus Altoona... This is the second series this season versus Altoona. The Pirates AA affiliate was at Commerce Bank Park May 8 - May 10 with the Senators winning two of three. Shawn Hill went 8.2 innings for the win in game one of the series. In game two, a four-run fifth inning highlighted by back-toback home runs by Kory Casto and Frank Diaz pushed the Senators over the top for a 6-2 win. The Curve beat the Senators in game three behind Matt Peterson 6-1. Peterson was very good that day, going six innings and allowing just four hits.
