Vaquedano Placed on the D.L., Goodson Called-Up from Wilmington

Portland, Maine- Portland Sea Dogs' right-handed pitcher Jose Vaquedano was placed on the disabled list today with back spasms. Vaquedano was scheduled to start tonight against the Bowie Baysox (Orioles) in Bowie, Maryland. Right-handed pitcher Matt Goodson was called-up from Single-A Wilmington and will start tonight for the Sea Dogs.

Goodson has made eight starts for the Blue Rocks this season posting a 0-3 record with a 3.83 ERA. The 23-year-old split time with Single-A Greenville and Single-A Wilmington in 2005 posting a combined record of 7-5 with a 3.15 ERA in 26 appearances, 16 as a starter. Goodson was drafted by the Red Sox in the 23rd round of the June 2004 draft.

Vaquedano has started nine games for Portland this season posting a 4-1 record with a 5.71 ERA. The 24-year-old was drafted by the Red Sox in the 35th round of the June 2002 draft.

The Sea Dogs begin a six day-seven game road trip tonight at 7:05 PM against the Baysox in Bowie, Maryland. The Sea Dogs will return home for a seven game homestand on Monday, June 19th when they take on the Connecticut Defenders (Giants) at 7:00 PM.
