
Harris' Return Keys Vipers Win Over Toros

HIDALGO, TEXAS - Mike Harris picked up his 14th double-double of the season with 22 points and 11 rebounds in his return from the Washington Wizards as the Rio Grande Valley Vipers beat the Austin Toros 100-85 tonight at State Farm Arena in front of a crowd of 3,838.
Harris also tied his season-high with five assists.
The Vipers (28-11) hit eight of their first 15 shots while the Toros (23-14) hit 3-of-13 while the Vipers built a 24-9 lead 9:41 into the game. The Toros responded with a 9-0 run that Kenny Hasbrouck ended with a three-pointer with 28.7 seconds left in the first quarter.
Hasbrouck finished with 18 points.
Up 41-35 with 5:35 remaining in the second quarter after a Carldell Johnson jumper, Ernest Scott hit a pair of threes as part of a 14-2 run to give the Vipers a 55-37 lead.
Scott was one of three Vipers with 14 points, joining Jonathan Wallace and Julian Sensley. Stanley Asumnu scored seven points to go with a season-high nine rebounds while Quin Humphrey also scored seven points in his return.
Curtis Jerrells led the Toros with 21 points, six rebounds and eight assists while Dwyane Jones led all rebounders with 20 to go with four assists, three blocks and six points.
The Vipers and Toros meet for the final time in the regular season tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. at State Farm Arena. Six-time Houston Rockets All-Star Yao Ming will be in attendance, marking his first visit to the Rio Grande Valley. It's $1 Menu night, meaning $1 hot dogs, popcorn and soda starting when the doors open at 6:30.
