Harold Arauz Quiets the Thunder

(Trenton, NJ) - The Fightin Phils (11-17) took game 2 from the Trenton Thunder (19-10) 2-0. Harold Arauz improved to 3-0 on the season after he pitched 5 and 1/3 scoreless innings; he gave up four hits, one walk and struck out four.

The Fightins struck first for the second straight night when Zach Green hit a two-run double to centerfield, which scored Zach Coppola and Damek Tomscha. Tomscha hit a single in his first at bat of the night to extend his on-base streak to 17 games.

Harold Arauz got into trouble in the bottom of the fifth when he gave up a leadoff single to first baseman Gosuke Katoh and walked right fielder Jhalan Jackson. However, Arauz retired the next three batters, Ben Ruta flied out to shallow left field, former Fightin Phil Chace Numata grounded out to shortstop and Vicente Conte flew out to right field.

Seth McGarry pitched 2 and 2/3 scoreless and hitless innings and struck out three. In the Top of the ninth there was a 22 minute power outage delay. Edgar Garcia came in the ninth and struck out three batters; one reached on a passed ball, and got the last batter to pop out to first base. It is the first save of the season for Garcia and first since 2016 when he pitched for the Lakewood Blueclaws. The series finale is tomorrow is at 10:30 am at Arm and Hammer Park and will see Fightin Phils' top prospect JoJo Romero take on Thunder's Jonathan Loaisiga.
