
Harden Gets Ten over Windy City

Marion, IL - The Southern Illinois Miners defeated the Windy City ThunderBolts 7-2 at Rent One Park. Miners starter David Harden pitched 7.2 innings in earning his tenth win on the season by only allowing one run over that span. He gave up eight hits and struck out four batters.
The Miners got on the board first off ThunderBolts starter Stephen Sauer with a base hit by Carlos Mendez which scored Jason Ganek to give the Miners a 1-0 lead. Ganek had reached base via a fielder's choice and moved to second base on an error by Michael Torres. The Miners would then open up the game by scoring five runs off Sauer in the bottom of the fourth inning. Javier Herrera hit is fifth home run of the season by leading off the inning. Chris Anderson hit a base hit and RBI with one out and Cannon Lester cleared the bases with a three run triple.
Windy City got on the board in the top of the 7th inning with a run then scored another run in the top of the eighth inning to cut the Miners lead to four runs, 6-2. The Miners scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning with a base hit by Carlos Mendez to extend the lead 7-2. The Miners would win the game 7-2 and improve to 52-35 on the season.
The Miners go for the series win tomorrow night at Rent One Park. The Miners will send LHP Daniel Calhoun to the mound who is in search of his seventh victory. First pitch is at 7:05 pm.
