Hany Mukhtar Named Major League Soccer's Player of the Week Pres. by Continental Tire for Week 16

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nashville Soccer Club in conjunction with Major League Soccer announced today that Hany Mukhtar has been named the league's Player of the Week, presented by Continental Tire, for Week 16. The recognition marks Mukhtar's fourth career MLS Player of the Week selection (also, 2020 Week 18, and 2021 Weeks 13 and 23) and 11th MLS Team of the Week honors. Since entering the league in 2020, Mukhtar and Seattle Sounders FC forward Raúl Ruidíaz are the only players to earn the Player of the Week award four different times.

Nashville SC's first Designated Player recorded his third brace of the season in Nashville's 3-1 road win at D.C. United on Saturday helping the club to surpass 100 goals in MLS regular season history in the process. Mukhtar has accounted for 49 of Nashville's 101 goals in their regular season history

The German's eight goals on the season are tied for the fourth-most in the league and his 13 goal contributions are tied for the MLS lead. Mukhtar's performance marked the eighth time he has scored multiple goals in a game, which is the most in MLS since joining the league in 2020. Of Nashville's 22 goals this season, Mukhtar has scored or assisted on 13 of them (59.1%).

Since the start of 2021, Mukhtar leads all players with 41 goal contributions (24 goals, 17 assists), which is five more than the next player (NYCFC's Valentín 'Taty' Castellanos). Additionally, Mukhtar's 24 goals are the third-most in MLS during that span and he is the only player with at least 20 goals and 15 assists. Of the German's 49 career goal contributions, 25 of those have come on the road, which is also a league best since 2020.

The MVP candidate continues to make his case leading MLS in shots (63) and shots on target (36) while being tied for first in goals and assists combined (13) and tied for fourth in MLS in goals (8). Nashville SC has never lost a regular season match when the attacker has found the back of the net (10W-0L-9D).

Mukhtar and the Boys in Gold are slated for two matches this week taking on Orlando City SC on Wednesday in the Quarterfinal Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and hosting the Portland Timbers in MLS competition on Sunday, July 3 at GEODIS Park.
