Inter Miami CF forward Leonardo Campana has been a force this season. The young Ecuadorian has boosted Inter Miami with his form thus far in 2022 and in the process placed himself in the conversation among the league's best forwards. With fan voting set to close this Friday, July 1 at 11:59 p.m. PT (July 2 at 2:59 a.m. ET), we will make the case for Campana to shine alongside the league's other stars at the 2022 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target in Minnesota this August.

Inter Miami's Talisman

The imposing young striker has led the Inter Miami attack in 2022. Since coming in on loan ahead of the season, Campana has been a mainstay in the side, appearing in all 16 of the team's MLS matches, starting 14 of them. In that time, he has tallied seven goals and two assists, good for first on the team in goals and tied for third in assists. The total has also seen Campana have a hand in nine of the team's 17 regular season goals, contributing to 53% of the team's output.

Among MLS Best

The Ecuadorian international's output not only tops his team's totals, but also ranks him among the league's best. His seven goals and nine goal contributions currently place him in a tie for eighth in MLS in goals, and a tie for 15th in total goal contributions.

History Maker

Campana's stellar play has also led to a few historic moments for the striker and for Inter Miami. On Saturday, April 9, the forward notched a hat trick for Inter Miami, guiding the team to a 3-2 win over the New England Revolution. The milestone marked the first hat trick by an Inter Miami player in club history, and to make the moment sweeter, it was a perfect hat trick - meaning he scored one goal with his left foot, one goal with his right foot, and one goal with his head.

Campana also buoyed Inter Miami's attack for an extended stretch from that point, contributing to seven consecutive MLS goals for the team from the April 9 match against New England to May 14 (5 goals, 2 assists). This also marked a club record for Inter Miami.

Of the 26 MLS players to be selected for the All-Star Game, the breakdown is as follows:

12 players will be determined by a vote of MLS players, fans, and media. Each of the three voting groups will represent one-third of the combined vote.

12 players will be selected by MLS All-Star head coach Adrian Heath of the host team Minnesota United FC.

Two players will be selected by MLS Commissioner Don Garber.

The 2022 MLS All-Star Game is part of the groundbreaking partnership between MLS and LIGA MX that also consist of major events on the soccer calendar, including Leagues Cup and Campeones Cup, and is committed to providing continued competitive opportunities to strengthen both leagues.

The match will air live on ESPN and Univision in the U.S., TSN and TVA Sports in Canada, on ESPN throughout Mexico and Latin America, and in more than 190 countries around the world, with kickoff slated for 8:30 p.m. ET.
