CHARLESTON, SC -- Designated hitter Josh Hansen's two-run double highlighted Kannapolis' four-run fourth inning as the Intimidators collared the Charleston RiverDogs, 6-2, in South Atlantic League action Thursday night in front of 4,578 fans at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

Intimidators' starter Adam Russell pitched six complete innings and allowed only three hits and two earned runs as he picked up his third win against four defeats. In the process, he struck out five RiverDogs, walked three and hit one batter. The RiverDogs have only eight total hits against Kannapolis pitching the past two ballgames.

With the victory, Kannapolis has won two straight over Charleston and improves its record to 31-30 while Charleston slips to 40-20. The RiverDogs' loss, coupled with Augusta's 4-1 win over Asheville, drops Charleston's lead in the Southern Division standings to five games with nine to play in the first half. The RiverDogs' magic number remains at five.

Kannapolis collected 10 hits on the night, two apiece from second baseman Boomer Berry and right fielder Clinton King. In all, five players drove home runs.

Charleston was held to only five hits on the night, with third baseman Grant Plumley securing two of them. Left fielder Estee Harris connected on a home run to right field in the fifth inning, his fifth of the season.

Charleston starter Jeff Marquez struggled, as he went 5.1 innings, allowed seven hits, five earned runs and walked four. To his credit, he struck out seven Intimidators.

In Kannapolis' four-run fourth inning, Donny Lucy doubled home a run and Berry singled home another to right prior to Hansen's two-run double to left.

Charleston responded with a run in the fourth as DH Ben Jones hit a sacrifice fly to right field.

Game Four of the four-game series concludes Friday at 7:05 p.m. as Chase Wright (3-2) gets the call for the RiverDogs while Lucas Harrell (2-5) toes the slab for the Intimidators.
