Hamilton Strong But MooonDogs Fall

July 8, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Mankato MoonDogs News Release

Mankato, MN - A strong outing by Mankato MoonDogs (2-4, 20-22) starting pitcher Grant Hamilton, wasn't enough to top the Thunder Bay Border Cats (3-4, 20-22) as the MoonDogs fell by a score of 4-0 at Franklin Rogers Park in Mankato, Minnesota.

Hamilton got his sixth start of the season and worked six innings allowing three runs and only four hits, while striking out seven. Hamilton continues to impress as he now has a 1.52 ERA and 47 strikeouts over 41.1 innings.

Border Cats starter Jeremy Charles would take a no hitter into the sixth inning. He would exit the game with a final line of seven innings, no runs, and four strikeouts and only allowed three hits.

Seven different MoonDogs would tally seven hits in the contest and would get runners on the corners in the bottom of the ninth inning but a double play would spoil the MoonDogs hopes of a comeback.

For Thunder Bay, Max Dutto would lead the way going 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored.

Charles (4-1) picked up the win, Hamilton (3-2) would take the loss and the save would go to Greg Weissert.

The MoonDogs will continue their longest home stand of the 2015 season tomorrow, Wednesday, for Farm and Food Night and Vegas Giveaway presented by Blue Earth County Farm Bureau, Pork Producers, Corn and Soybean Growers and their checkoffs, along with Minnesota 93. Gates opening at 6:05pm with the first pitch at 7:05pm.
