MILWAUKEE, WI - Despite jumping out to a 2-0 first period lead, the Hamilton Bulldogs fell 3-2 to the Milwaukee Admirals at the Bradley Center on Thursday night.
Bulldogs forward Steve Ott gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead 9:44 into the first period. Ott stole the puck along the boards, went in on Admirals goaltender Brian Finley, and beat him with a backhand shot. Defenceman Andrew Archer earned his first assist of the season on the play.
Tomas Plekanec would make it 2-0 for the Bulldogs at 13:00 with his ninth goal of the season. Ott and Dan Jancevski added assists on Hamilton's power-play goal.
Those two first period goals would be all the scoring for Hamilton. Milwaukee would score three unanswered goals to earn the victory.
The Admirals got on the scoreboard at 6:22 of the second period. Cam Severson scored Milwaukee's first goal of the game, his fourth goal of the season, with assists going to Brendan Segal and Vern Fiddler.
Before the period was over the Admirals evened the score 2-2 on the power play at 17:48. Brad Tiley took a shot from the point that went through a maze of traffic, and eventually found the back of the Bulldogs goal. Milton, Ontario native Darren Haydar had the lone assist on the play.
The Admirals would eventually take the 3-2 lead in the game. At 3:09 of the third period, Haydar would score the game-winner on the power play, with assists going to Tiley and Libor Pivko.
Bulldogs goaltender Dan Ellis made 34 saves, while suffering the loss. Brian Finley earned the victory by stopping 23 of the Bulldogs shots.
Hamilton managed to score one power-play goal on four opportunities. The Admirals scored twice on eight opportunities with the man-advantage.
The Bulldogs record through 33 games now stands at 12 wins, 15 losses, 4 overtime losses and 2 shootout losses.
The Hamilton Bulldogs will conclude their three-game road trip on Friday, December 31st when they visit the Grand Rapids Griffins at the Van Andel Arena.
