Here is a look at some of the community events that the Hamilton Bulldogs and Bulldogs Foundation have been involved with recently.

Hamilton Bulldogs Pepsi Refresh Program

The Hamilton Bulldogs and the Bulldogs Foundation announced that the Dawgs Breakfast Program has been entered into the Pepsi Refresh Program ‚¬â„¢s contest to win $100,000. Fans are encouraged to become a fan of the Hamilton Bulldogs Pepsi Refresh Program Fan Page located at http://www.facebook.com/bulldogspepsi. Instructions on how to vote for the program are located on the page. Fans can win an autographed, game-worn P.K. Subban 2010 AHL All-Star Jersey by voting and becoming a fan of the page. The more you vote, the better chance you have at winning the jersey. Fans can vote directly for the program by going to http://www.refresheverything.ca/hamiltonbulldogsdogsbreakfast and clicking on the vote icon. Fans can vote with multiple e-mail addesses but only once a day under each account.

Dawgs Breakfast

The Hamilton Bulldogs and Bulldogs Foundation in conjunction with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board announced on November 30th the launch of the Dawgs Breakfast Program. The program will provide breakfast to over 2,000 students who attend Barton Secondary School, Bennetto Elementary School and Parkview Secondary School. With support from The Grocery Foundation and Quaker, a Divison of PepsiCo Foods Canada, the Bulldogs Foundation is committing $225,000 in cash or kind to the program over the next three years. On November 30th at a press conference held at Bennetto Elementary School, The Bulldogs Foundation presented a $10,000 cheque to each of the three schools to begin the program.

Raising the Roof

The Raising the Roof Toque Campaign was launched on Tuesday, December 7th with a press conference at Mountain Secondary School. The press conference announced that stylish black toques with a snowflake design are being sold to support Wesley Youth Housing, Wesley Centre in Hamilton and agencies across Canada that are working on long-term solutions addressing homelessness nation-wide. Derek Wills, who is the Honorary Chair of ‚¬ËœRaising the Roof ‚¬â„¢, was the MC for the press conference while Bruiser attended as well to help with the festivities.

Wesley Urban Ministries ‚¬â„¢ local Raising the Roof Toque campaign began selling toques at last night ‚¬â„¢s game and will also be selling them at Friday ‚¬â„¢s game. 80% of the net proceeds from the toques will go to supporting Wesley Youth Housing and Wesley Centre in Hamilton. 20% will go to agencies across Canada working on long-term solutions addressing homelessness nationwide. Each toque can be bought for a $10 donation. The local campaign has sold 1,300 toques so far.

School Day Game

The Hamilton Bulldogs will host their first ever School Day Game on Wednesday, January 26th when they welcome the Manitoba Moose to Copps Coliseum for a 10:30 a.m. game. Throughout the game there will be a number of contests for the kids, special messages about literacy from the players and celebrations for Bruiser ‚¬â„¢s birthday. A number of Bruiser ‚¬â„¢s mascot friends will be in attendance to help celebrate the occasion.

Pink in the Rink

The ‚¬ËœDogs will hold their annual Pink in the Rink game on Saturday February 12th at 4:00 p.m. against the Rochester Americans. The game is aimed to raise funds and awareness for Breast Cancer Support Services which is a self-help organization created by women for anyone who has concerns about breast cancer or general breast health. BCSS is also a truly unique organization as it is the only support centre in the Hamilton, Halton area which deals specifically with breast cancer. BCSS will be selling a special ticket package that will include a ticket to the game and a pink Bulldogs baseball cap for $20. Those packages can be purchased as the organization ‚¬â„¢s website, http://www.breastcancersupport.org/.

Bulldogs Team-Up with Ronald McDonald House

At the December 30th Hamilton Bulldogs home game, the Ronald McDonald House raffled off a team-signed ‚¬ËœDogs jersey to help raise funds and awareness for Ronald McDonald House. The jersey raffle was an initiative supported by the Bulldogs Foundation as part of the McDonalds sponsored night.

Players Out and About

Hamilton Bulldogs Captain Alex Henry and forward Hunter Bishop will be attending a minor hockey team ‚¬â„¢s practice on Saturday, January 15th at Wentworth Triple Rinks. The players will participate in drills and activities with the team.

Catholic Youth Organization Celebrity Luncheon

Members of the Hamilton Bulldogs attended the Catholic Youth Organization ‚¬â„¢s 26th annual Celebrity Luncheon to help kick-off the C.Y.O. ‚¬â„¢s 2011 fundraising campaign and media event. This annual event helps to assist children with physical or developmental disabilities and those less fortunate to attend C.Y.O. Camp Brebeuf and Camp Marydale.

Schedule of Upcoming Bruiser Community Appearances for January

Saturday, January 15th ‚¬" Bruiser will be a special guest at the Ontario Special Olympics Provincial Qualifier for Basketball. This Provincial Qualifier is being held at Hillfield Strathallan College. Bruiser will be cheering on some of our areas finest athletes as they compete to represent our province at the upcoming Special Olympics.

Saturday, January 15th ‚¬" St. Peter ‚¬â„¢s Residence and Long Term Care fundraiser walk. Bruiser will be on site that day to help kick-off their fundraiser walk and to help spread good cheer to all residence of St. Peter ‚¬â„¢s.

Monday, January 24th ‚¬" Bruiser and Bulldogs goaltender Curtis Sanford will be attending Mary Hopkins Elementary School to help promote the school ‚¬â„¢s literacy awareness program.

The ‚¬ËœDogs will host the Syracuse Crunch for a 7:00 p.m. game on Friday, December 14th at Copps Coliseum. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts on AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
