
Hamill and Irving on Team Canada's Super Series Roster

June 20, 2007: Two Everett Silvertips will represent Team Canada in the 2007 Canada/Russia Super Series on August 27 to September 9. Silvertips goaltender Leland Irving and Everett forward Zach Hamill have been selected by Hockey Canada to participate in the event. A total of 26 players will play for Team Canada in the event with 13 players coming from the WHL.
Leland Irving finished 2nd in the WHL in Goals Against Average (1.86), 1st in Save Percentage (92.9%), 1st in Shutouts (11) and 2nd in Wins (34) during the 2006-2007 regular season and recorded franchise single season records in Shutouts (11) and Goals Against Average (1.86). Leland also holds franchise records in Games Played (139), Minutes Played (7733), Goals Against Average (1.87), Wins (80) and Shutouts (17). The 2006 1st Round Pick (26th overall) of the Calgary Flames, has played in International events before with Team Canada. The Swan Hills, AB native was part of the gold medal winning Team Canada squad at the 2007 World Junior Championships. In the summer of 2005 Irving also won a gold medal with Team Canada at the Under-18 World Cup.
Zach Hamill led the WHL in scoring during the 2006-2007 regular season with 93 points. The Port Coquitlam, BC native recorded 32 goals and a league high 61 assists for 93 points in 69 games for the Silvertips last season. Hamill earned first team Western Conference All-Star honors and became the first Silvertip to win the Bobby Clarke Trophy as the WHL's leading scorer. Zach is currently the all time leading scorer in Silvertips franchise history with 187 points. Hamill is also the all time leader in franchise history in goals scored (61) and assists (126). The Silvertips 1st Round selection (3rd Overall) in the 2003 WHL Bantam Draft is also the all time franchise leader in playoff points (35), playoff assists (25) and playoff games played (58). Hamill has played internationally before with Team Canada. Zach was part of Team Canada's gold medal winning squad at the 2005 Under-18 World Cup. On Friday, June 22, Hamill is expected to be selected in the first round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
The Canada/Russia Super Series, a one-time eight-game series featuring the best Under-20 players from Canada and Russia, will take place from August 27th to September 9th, with the first four games to be held in Russia, and the final four to be held in Canadian cities (Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Red Deer and Vancouver).
Canada's 26-player roster will gather in Toronto on August 20th before traveling to Russia for the first four games which begin on August 27th, and then returning to their club teams and/or NHL training camps upon conclusion of the final game of the series on September 9th. The Canada/Russia Super Series will also serve to evaluate and develop Canada's National Junior Team for the 2008 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Game #8: Canada vs. Russia in Vancouver, BC on September 9th
