Hagerstown Suns Host Three-on-three Basketball Tournament

Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns Slam Dunk Tobacco 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament's final round will be held on the basketball court at Municipal Stadium on Friday, June 15th. Previous rounds were held at Girls Incorporated and the Boys & Girls Clubs on Pennsylvania Avenue and Elgin Station.

The age groups include 9-12 year olds, 13-16 year olds and 17-19 year olds. Teams can enter by calling the Suns office at 301-791-6266 or registering the day of the tournament at 9:45 a.m. There is no fee to register. Winning teams from the qualifying tournaments are automatically registered in the finals. Availability is extremely limited. Following the finals, the winning teams in each age group will receive a team trophy as well as individual trophies. All teams receive a complimentary Slam Dunk Tobacco T-shirt.

The Suns will distribute informational pamphlets to teams and spectators highlighting tobacco prevention and effective methods of cessation. Suns players will be on-hand to sign autographs and provide free tickets to the Suns game on June 15th for anyone who fills out a pledge card vowing to "slam dunk" tobacco out of their life. Free food and drinks will be provided.

The winning teams will be presented with a trophy on-field as part of an anti-tobacco ceremony which includes an anti-tobacco informational speech by Suns staff and players. The Suns will have a table setup inside the front gate of Municipal Stadium with free Slam Dunk Tobacco prizes for fans.
